I originally started this encyclopedia of sorts for me to use as reference material for my fan fics. Then, in my infinite wisdom, I thought, "Hell, why don't I share this with my fellow comrades?"
So, here it is, on my website. What is the Reference Guide, you ask? Well, say you're writing a story, and you can't remember the name of Willow's father. You'd look under *W* for Willow, Relatives ... and voila!
I originally went to AleXander's awesome transcript page at The Slayer Fan Fic Archives and took a look at the the scripts, putting down anything pertinent. Now that it was shut down, I've been stalled for the time being.
So what's in the Reference Guide? Everything, from facts like where Buffy lives (1630 Revello Dr. -- Angel), to future careers for those A/U future fics, like Xander as a fireman (Lover's Walk), to important moments in romantic relationships, like what episode Cordelia openly declared her feelings for Xander (Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered). I've recorded names of all the teachers the show has mentioned through Season 3 as well as locations throughout the town and the different spells and demons discussed on the show.
I haven't embellished on anything. How I set the encyclopedia up is that I take the quotes characters say verbatim, as well as who said it and what episode it was said in, so that a, ahem ... disbelieving person could check the transcript themselves and see it's true.
There are some things I omitted, what I deem the obvious things that everyone already knows, like Jenny Calendar was a member of the clan that cursed Angel, etc. Some things that everyone knows are included, because the detail is important, like exactly how Angel received his curse, and so on.
As a final note, this page originated as an extension of my now-defunct website, which included my fan fic. I may still put my fan fic here, but right now, this small site remains solely as the Reference Guide. I had my site go belly-up during BtVS' Season 3, and, unfortunately, those are the only shows referenced as of now. However, I will go through transcripts with a fine-toothed comb until I get current. I will give both sides of any contradictions (such as Spike's sire) and will eventually incorporate "Angel" as well. I'm also going to slowly weed out the now-unimportant stuff. And never to be outdone, at some point in the future, a sister guide will pop up dealing with the tidbits of the BtVS novels.
Until then, feel free to pass the address for this site along if you choose. I don't need credit in your fan fics; I'm just paring down what's already there in an easy-to-navigate form.
